One of my all-time favorite Legend of Zelda Manga is The Four Swords.

Favorite characters

Yes, I know they are all Link, but if you read the manga, you'll be impressed by how different they are.

Why do I like this manga so much

  1. Distinct Personalities for Each Link: Instead of just being color-coded clones, Green, Blue, Red, and Violet (Vio) each get unique traits

  2. Link Has an Ego: At the start, Link is an overconfident, arrogant swordsman who prefers to work entirely alone. Being forced to rely on his own split personalities humbles him and creates great personal growth.

  3. Hilarious Dynamic and Bickering: The four versions of Link spend a lot of time arguing, fighting, and getting annoyed with one another, which leads to fantastic comedic timing.

  4. Fleshed-Out Lore and Original Characters: Because the source games have minimal narrative, the manga introduces unique elements like Link’s father and expands significantly on his childhood history with Princess Zelda.

  5. A Menacing Shadow Link: Shadow Link is handled brilliantly as a dark, psychological antagonist who doesn't just fight the heroes.

  6. The expressive, clean art captures the lighthearted feel of the classictoon-style adventures while still delivering high-energy, exciting sword fights.
