Alabama is the first state in alphabetical order. It is the 22nd state to be admitted to the union, being founded on December 14th, 1819. The state capital is Montgomery, and the largest city is Huntsville. It shares borders with the Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. It is also one of the states that left the union to form the Confederate States of America. The state bird is the Yellowhammer, and the state flower is the goldenrod. It's nickname is "The Yellowhammer State".
Alabama is widely known for football, BBQ, and it's good hospitality.
Alaska is the second state in alphabetical order. It is the 49th state to be admitted, being granted statehood on January 3rd, 1959, a few months before Hawaii was admitted. It is one of the coldest states in the country and also one of two states that do not border the other contiguous states. It is the largest state, and borders Canada, specifically the territory of Yukon and the province of British Columbia. The capital is Juneau, and the largest city is Anchorage. It originally belonged to the Russian Empire before being sold to the United States in 1867, before the US discovered LARGE amounts of oil inside Alaska. The state flower is the forget-me-not, and the state bird is the willow ptarmigan. The state's nickname is "The Last Frontier".

Arizona is the third state in alphabetical order. It is one of the most recent states to be admitted, being founded on Februrary 14th, 1912, making it the the 48th state in terms of admission. It's one of the hottest states in the country, only a couple spots behind Florida. The capital and largest city is Phoenix, which is also the fifth biggest city in the United States. Half of the state is complete desert. The state borders California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, (kind of) Colorado, and the Mexican state of Sonora. It is also part of the Four Corners Region The state flower is the Saguaro cactus blossom, and the state bird is the Cactus Wren. It's nickname is "The Grand Canyon State".
Arizona is highly known for the Grand Canyon, it's hot temperatures, and desert valleys.
Arkansas is the 4th state in alphabetical order. It is the 25th state to be admitted to the union, being granted statehood on June 15, 1836. The state capital and largest city is Little Rock. It is one of many states with a different pronounciation in the name, being "Ar-Ken-SAW". It borders Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma. About 3 decades after it was founded, it formed a seperate union alongside ten other states before the Civil War broke out, before rejoining after the war ended. The state bird is the Northern Mockingbird, and the state flower is the Apple Blossom. The state's nickname is "The Natural State."
Arkansas is widely known for it's greenery, Hot Springs National Park, Walmart, and the Crater of Diamonds State Park, a special public park that allows you to search for diamonds.
California is the 5th state in alphabetical order, and the 31st state to be admitted to the union, being founded on September 9th, 1850. Cali is the most populated state in the US, having 39 MILLION PEOPLE living in it! The state capital is Sacramento, and the largest city is Los Angeles, which is also the second largest city in the nation. Many iconic cities are in this state, such as Fresno, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, etc. It is also the third biggest state in the country, only behind Texas and Alaska. The state borders the Pacific Ocean, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and the Mexican State of Baja California. The state flower is the California Poppy, and the state bird is the California quail. It's nickname is "The Golden State".

Colorado is the 6th state in alphabetical order. It is the 38th state to be admitted to the union, being founded on August 1st, 1876. The state is known for being one of the most mountainous states and its almost straight borders. The capital and largest city is Denver. The state borders Wyoming, Utah, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, and (sort of) Arizona. Colorado is also part of the Four Corners region. The state flower is the Colorado blue columbine, and the state bird is the Lark bunting. The state nickname is "The Centennial State".
Colorado is best known for its hiking culture, beautiful mountain landscapes,the Dinosaur National Monument on the border between Colorado and Utah, and many small towns like Boulder and Colorado Springs, along with having four national parks.
Connecticut is the 7th state in alphabetical order. It is one of the original 13 colonies of British America, alongside others. It is the 5th state admitted to the union, having ratified the constituion on January 9th 1788. The state capital is Hartford, and the largest city is Bridgeport. It's the third smallest state in the US, but also one of the richest. The state borders the Atlantic Ocean, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New York. The state flower is the Mountain Iurael, and the state bird is the American Robin. The state nickname is "The Constitution State".
Connecticut is most known for it's close proximity to New York City, Yale University in New Haven, and the CT River.
Delaware is the 8th state in alphabetical order and the very first state to be admitted to the union, ratifying the constitution on December 7th, 1787. It's the second smallest state in the US, after Rhode Island. The state capital is Dover, and the largest city is Wilmington. Despite it's historical and colonial heritage, it has only three counties (Kent, Sussex, and New Castle counties), and only ten cities, though over 57 incorporated communities and towns. It borders the Atlantic Ocean, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The state flower is the Peach blossom, and the state bird is the Blue Hen chicken. The nickname for the state is "The First State", a reference to it's admission number.
Despite being small, Delaware is best known for it's many historical sites, the chemical industry (fun fact: Wilmington is known for being the chemical capital of the world!), and for being a tax-free state.
Florida is the 9th state in alphabetical order. It is the 27th state to be admitted overall, having been granted statehood on March 3rd, 1845. It is a peninsular state, being surrounded by the Gulf of Mexico/America, the Straits of Florida, and the Atlantic Ocean. The state capital is Tallahasse, and the largest city is Jacksonville. It is the third most populous state in the US, after Texas and California. The states that border Florida are Georgia and Alabama. The state is relatively close to the Bahamas, making Miami a good spot for cruises. It is also part of the states that formed the Confederate States of America. The state flower is the Orange blossom, and the state bird is the Northern Mockingbird. The nickname is "The Sunshine State".

Georgia is the 10th state in alphabetical order. It's one of the 13 original colonies and is the 4th state to be admitted to the union, ratifying the constitution on January 2nd, 1788. It's capital and largest city is Atlanta. The state borders the Atlantic Ocean (well, a small portion of it), South Carolina, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee. The state was a royal colony of Britain and was only created to act as a barrier between Spanish Florida and South Carolina, and was also a debtor's colony, but later joined in on the 13 colonies to fight for independence. It also left the union before the Civil war to form the confederacy. The state flower is the Cherokee rose, and the state bird is the Brown thrasher. The state nickname is "The Peach State".
Georgia is known for Coca Cola (it's headquarters in Atlanta), it's peach agriculture, and Savannah, the oldest city in the state.
Hawaii is the 11th state in alphabetical order and the 50th and final state admitted to the union, being admitted to the country on August 23rd, 1959. It is a special state, as it is an archipalego (a group of islands in a body of water), completely isolated in the Pacific Ocean, away from the mainland, and has its own language, Hawaiian, despite many English speakers residing in the state. It is split up into 137 islands in total, but 8 islands are bigger and more populous. The state capital and largest city is Honolulu, located on the island of Oahu. The state was originally a kingdom up until 1898, when the US annexed the kingdom, officially marking it as a US territory up to 1959. It is the most recent state to be founded, and is also geographically part of Polynesia. The state flower is the Yellow hibiscus, and the state bird is the Nene. The state nickname is "The Aloha State".

Idaho is the 12th state in alphabetical order. It is the 43rd state to be founded, being admitted to the country on July 3rd, 1890. The state capital and largest city is Boise. The state borders Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Montana, and an international border with Canada, specifically the province of British Columbia. It is also one of the states with a panhandle, though it is not very populated. The state has many mountain ranges and lakes. The state flower is the Syringa, and the state bird is the Mountain Blue bird. The state nickname is "The Gem State".
Idaho is best known for its potato production, it's beautiful lakes and mountains, and its great agriculture.
Illinois is the 13th state in alphabetical order. It is the 21st state to be admitted to the union, being founded on December 3rd, 1818. The state has a lot of tourism, and also is the 6th most populated state. The state capital is Springfield, and the largest city is Chicago, the third biggest city in the country. The state borders Indiana, Lake Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, and Kentucky. Cook County is also the second most biggest county in the country, since Chicago is the capital of the county. The state flower is the violet, and the state bird is the Northern cardinal. The state has two nicknames, one being "The Prairie State", due to it's massive prairies, and "The Land of Lincoln", due to Abraham Lincoln representing Illinois in Congress.
Illinois is best known for it's deep dish pizza (primarily in Chicago), it's stunning views of Lake Michigan (from the Willis Tower) and, politically, president Barack Obama representing the state before he went into office.
Indiana is the 14th state in alphabetical order. It is the 19th state to be admitted to the union, being admitted on December 11th, 1816. The state capital and largest city is Indianapolis. The state is one of the few regions with a very high rural percentage (countryside), being 93%. The state has very good agriculture, and is considered the "Crossroad of America", due to its key role in transportation, and ranks #1 in road quality due to its roads meeting many federal standards. It borders Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, a tiny portion of Lake Michigan, and Ohio. The state flower is the Peony, and the state bird is the Northern Cardinal. The state nickname is "The Hoosier State", and many residents of Indiana are referred to as "hoosiers".

Iowa is the 15th state in alphabetical order. It is the 29th state admitted to the union, being founded on December 28th, 1846. The state capital and largest city is Des Moines. Iowa is a leading state of corn and pigs, producing 33% of the pigs and 18% of the corn in the country. Iowa borders Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and a tiny portion of South Dakota. Iowa is another rural state, with 98.3% grasslands making up the total land area. The state flower is the Wild Rose, and the state bird is the Eastern goldfinch. The state nickname is "The Hawkeye State".

Kansas is the 16th state in alphabetical order. It is the 34th state admitted to the union, being founded on January 29th, 1861. The state capital is Topeka, and the largest city is Wichita. Kansas is a very high sunflower producer and also has many flatlands, and is a high wheat producer as well. It's also one of the flattest states, behind Florida. It borders Missouri, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Nebraska. Kansas is often a good state for a road trip, since it has rolling hills and plains, with a ton of flowers. The state flower is the Sunflower, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark. The state nickname is "The Sunflower State".
Kansas is best known for the Wizard of Oz (due to the movie taking place in the state), the Brown v. Board of Education United States Supreme Court case, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library and Museum, and it's association with the Great Plains.
Kentucky is the 17th state in alphabetical order. It is the 15th state to be admitted to the union, being founded on June 1st, 1792. The state capital is Frankfort, and the largest city is Louisville. Kentucky borders Tennessee, West Virginia, Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. The state was previously part of Virginia, before becoming a seperate entity on the founding date. The state also played an important role in the civil war. The state flower is the Goldenrod, and the state bird is the Northern Cardinal. The state nickname is "The Bluegrass State", due to it's native species of bluegrass.
Kentucky is famous for KFC, it's bourbon and horse races, and for being the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln.
Louisiana is the 18th state in alphabetical order. It is the 18th state to be admitted to the union, being founded on April 30th, 1812. The state capital is Baton Rouge, and the largest city is New Orleans, an iconic city in the country. Louisiana borders Texas, the Gulf of Mexico/America, Arkansas, and Mississippi. Despite it's great wonders, the FBI has estimated it to be ranked #2 in states with the highest crime rate. However, other than that, Louisiana has many good Gulf beaches, primarily in New Orleans. The state also has a strong association with pelicans as well. It also left the union alongside ten other states to form the confederacy. The state flower is the Magnolia, and the state bird is the Eastern brown pelican. The nickname is "The Pelican State".

Maine is the 19th state in alphabetical order. It is the 23rd state to be admitted overall, being founded on March 15th, 1820. The state capital is Augusta, and the largest city is Portland (not to be confused with Portland, Oregon!) The state is the 9th most least populous state in the country, and is also the only one that borders only one other state, that being New Hampshire. Maine borders the aforementioned state, the Gulf of Maine, and an international border with the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec. Maine was originally part of Massachusetts, before seperating and becoming its own state. Despite being small, Maine still has many wonders for tourists. The state flower is the White pine cone and tassel, and the state bird is the Chickadee.

Maryland is the 20th state in alphabetical order. It is another one of the 13 original colonies, having ratified the constitution on April 28th, 1788, making it the 7th state to be admitted to the union. Maryland is one of two states that border the national capital, Washington D.C. Maryland's state capitol building is the oldest state house still in use in the United States. The state capital is Annapolis, and the largest city is Baltimore. It borders Chesapeake Bay, Delaware, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia. Maryland was also the final colony to ratify the Articles of Confederation after years of rejection of the document. The state flower is the Black-eyed susan, and the state bird is the Baltimore oriole. The nickname is "The Old Line State".

The state borders the Atlantic Ocean, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and New York. Massachusetts is one of the very first colonies that was settled, specifically the Puritans and Pilgrims. Massachusetts is also known for the Boston Massacre. The state was also previously called the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The state flower is the Mayflower, and the state bird is the Black capped Chickadee. The nickname is "The Bay State".

Michigan is the 22nd state in alphabetical order. It is the 26th state to join the union, being admitted to the union on January 26, 1837. The state capital is Lansing, and the largest city is Detroit. Michigan is another special state, as instead it is made up of TWO peninsulas, with the upper one being achieved by a war in the 1830's between Michigan (when it was still a territory) and Ohio. As a result of the war, Ohio got the Toledo Strip, while Michigan was given the upper peninsula. The state is surrounded by many lakes, specifically Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie. It also borders Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, and the Canadian province of Ontario. The state capital is Saint Paul, and the largest city is Minneapolis, both cities known as the "Twin Cities", due to their close proximity to each other. Minnesota is also the 12th largest state in the country. The state flower is the pink and white lady's slipper, and the state bird is the common loon. The name of the state derives from the Missouri River, the largest river in the United States. The state borders Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The state capital is Jefferson City, and the largest city is Kansas City. Missouri is also home to St. Louis, a very popular tourist spot. The state was formed as a result of the Missouri Compromise. The state flower is the Hawthorn, and the state bird is the Eastern bluebird. The nickname is "The Show-Me State".

The state is highly known for it's beautiful nature and mountains, along with it's camp sites. Montana shares borders with Idaho, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. The state capital is Helena, and the largest city is Billings. Montana is the 4th largest state in the US, after California. The state is a good spot for lush greenery and outdoor activities. The state flower is the Biterroot, the state bird is the Western meadowlark. The nickname is "Big Sky Country".

Nebraska borders Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Kansas, and Missouri. The state capital is Lincoln, and the largest city is Omaha. The state is mainly made up of flatland an plains, however it still has a few wonders. The state is also the third largest corn producer. Nebraska is also the only state that's triply landlocked, having to travel at least across 3 states to reach a body of water. The state flower is the Goldenrod, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark. The nickname is "The Cornhusker State".
Nebraska is known for it's rolling fields/plains, its corn producement, Carhenge (a recreation of the Stonehenge monument located in England using cars), and the Scotts Bluff National Monument.
Nevada is the 28th state in alphabetical order. It is the 36th state to join the union, being admitted on October 31st, 1864. The state borders California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. The state capital is Carson City, and the largest city is Las Vegas. The Great Basin makes up almost the entirety of the state, making it almost complete desert. Despite the conditions, Nevada is highly visited because of Las Vegas, a popular city known for it's casinos, gambling culture, and vibrant nightlife. Nevada is also known for Reno, another popular city in the state. The state flower is the Sagebrush, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark (how many meadowlarks?!). The state's nicknames are "The Silver State", and the "Entertainment Capital of the World".

New Hampshire is the 29th state in alphabetical order. It is another original colony, ratifying the constitution on June 21st, 1788, making it the 9th state to join the US. New Hampshire borders Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Canadian Province of Quebec. The state capital is Concord, and the largest city is Manchester. New Hampshire's motto is "Live Free or Die", a famous statement spoken by General John Stark. The state was formed as a colony in 1622 when John Mason and Sir Ferninando Gorges recieved a land grant from the Council of New England. The state is also famous for the White Mountains. The state flower is the Purple lilac, and the state bird is the Purple finch. The nickname is "The Granite State".
New Hampshire is widely known for Mount Washington, The Conway Scenic Railroad, the Franconia Notch State Park, and it's culture for maple syrup and cider donuts.
New Jersey is the 30th state in alphabetical order. It is another original colony, being the 3rd state to ratify the constitution on December 18, 1787. The state capital is Trenton, and the largest city is Newark. It borders the Atlantic Ocean, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and Delaware. New Jersey is often a state the most moved to due to it's high popularity and proximities within New York ad Philadelphia. It is also one of two states that rank number one in education quality, alongside Massachusetts. It is also one of the safest states, being ranked #42 in states with the most violent crimes. It is the 4th most smallest state, but is the most densely populated. It is also a royal colony, meaning it was directly controlled by Britain. The state flower is the Violet, and the state bird is the Eastern goldfinch. The nickname is "The Garden State".
New Jersey is famous for it's role in American history, being the "Diner Capital of the World" due to having many diners, Jersey Shore, and the Liberty State Park.
New Mexico is the 31st state in alphabetical order. It is the 47th state to be admitted to the union, being founded on January 6th, 1912, making it a recent state. The state capital is Santa Fe, and the largest city is Albuquerque. It borders Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and (sort of) Utah, being part of the Four Corners Region, as well as bordering the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora. Despite it's name, New Mexico was actually settled by Spanish colonists in the 1500s LONG before the country of Mexico actually existed, being called "Nuevo Mexico". After the colonization of Mexico (being called "New Spain" at the time), New Mexico was colonzied as well up until 1821, when the colony gained independence. Following the Mexican-American war, both the US and Mexico signed a treaty where The US paid off debts from Mexico in exchange for 525 thousand acres of land, with many other states being a part of it, including New Mexico. During the admission of the other states, the state (then being a territory) was known as "Santa Fe de Nuevo Mexico". It was the second to last state to be admitted, before Arizona. The state flower is the Yucca flower, and the state bird is the Greater roadrunner. The nickname is "The Land of Enchantment".

New York is the 32nd state in alphabetical order. It is another original colony, being the 11th state to ratify the Constitution on July 26th, 1788. The state capital is Albany, and the largest city is New York City, the most populated city in the whole country. It borders Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, the Canadian province of Ontario, and the Great Lakes of Ontario and Erie. New York is one of the most popular states in economy and hubs, with many famous landmarks like the Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge, both in NYC. Other than the Big Apple (the city's nickname), New York state also has a lot to offer upstate, such as rolling hills and mountains. It also houses the most populated island in the United States, which is Long Island. Finance in NYC, particularly in Manhattan, is a popular topic, especially in the Financial District. New York also houses the vault with the largest amount of Gold. New York state is also sadly infamous for the September 11 attacks in 2001 that resulted in the loss of the Twin Towers, and also impacted security in America, which led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the One World Trade Center building, along with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. It's also the 4th most populous state in the US, after Florida and before Pennsylvania. The state flower is the Rose, and the state bird is the Eastern bluebird. The nickname is "The Empire State".

North Carolina is the 33rd state in alphabetical order. It is another one of the 13 colonies (though it was admitted WAYY after South Carolina), ratifying the Constitution on November 21st, 1789, making it the 12th state to join the union overall. The state capital is Raleigh, and the largest city is Charlotte. It borders Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, and the Atlantic Ocean. The state is most notably popular for being the site of the first airplane ever flown. Originially, the state and it's southern counterpart were one unified province under British Control, until they eventually split in 1712 due to difficulty in governing the entire province. It's also the most populated Carolina, as well as being the 10th state to leave the union before rejoining. The state flower is the Flowering dogwood, and the state bird is the Northern Cardinal. The nickname is "The Tar Heel State".
North Carolina is best known for the Outer Banks, Roanoke Island, Krispy Kreme (headquartered in Charlotte), and the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
North Dakota is the 34th state in alphabetical order. It is the 39th (or possibly 40th) state admitted to the union, being founded on November 2nd, 1889. The state capital is Bismarck, and the largest city is Fargo. It borders South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It is also one of the most sparsely populated states, and also one of two state duos to have a Southern counterpart. It was also founded on the same day as South Dakota. Nobody really knows which Dakota was founded first due to President Benjamin Harrison shuffling the admission papers to avoid favoritism. Other than that, North Dakota is also a very grassy state, and has many rivers flowing through it such as the Mississippi River. North Dakota is also the 4th most least populated state in the country. The state flower is the Wild prairie road, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark. It's nickname is "The Peace Garden State".
North Dakota is mostly known for its agriculture, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, the Maah Daah Hey Trail, and the Fargo Air Museum.
Ohio is the 35th state in alphabetical order. It is the 17th state to be admitted to the union, being founded on March 1st, 1803. The state capital and largest city is Columbus, with other notable cities such as Cleveland, Cinncinati, Dayton, Toledo, etc. It borders Indiana, Lake Erie, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Michigan. It's name comes from the Ohio River, and the state was also formed under the Northwest Ordinance. It is the only state in the whole country that doesn't have a rectangular flag, instead being a little triangular with a gap at the end. Ohio is also known for being a more information and service based economy, and for having SEVEN PRESIDENTS being born in it. It's also the 7th most populated and 10th densely populated state in the country. The state flower is the Scarlet carnation, and the state bird is the Northern Cardinal. The nickname is "The Buckeye State".
Ohio is widely known for it's Buckeye trees, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, its Egg production, being the birthplace of Neil Armstrong and 7 presidents, Cedar Point, and the National Museum of the United States Air Force.
Oklahoma is the 36th state in alphabetical order. It is the 46th state to join the union, being founded on November 16th, 1907. The state capital and largest city is Oklahoma City. It borders Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Missouri. The state has the most tornadoes out of every other state, having 62 tornadoes per year. It is also one of the few states to have a panhandle, having the third longest despite it being sparsely populated. Previously, the state was known as the Indian Territory (with the panhandle being part of Texas at the time), however in 1890 the land then was formed into the Oklahoma Territory, and the panhandle was then added to the new land. Eventually the territory was granted statehood, forming the modern-day state. THe state flower is the Oklahoma rose, and the state bird is the Scissor-tailed flycatcher. The nickname is "The Sooner State".
Oklahoma is known for it's wacky weather, the American Banjo museum, The Oklahoma City National Memorial (a memorial for the victims who were killed in the infamous Oklahoma City bombing tragedy on April 19th, 1995), the Spiro Mounds, and it's Native American heritage.
Oregon is the 37th state in alphabetical order. It is the 33rd state to be admitted to the union, being founded on Februrary 14, 1859. The state capital is Salem, and the largest city is Portland (Not to be confused with Portland, Maine!). The state borders Washington, the Altantic Ocean, Idaho, California, and Nevada. It is one of the states with the most forests, and also very mountainous. It's one of two states to have the highest beaver population, with the other being New York. The Columbia River flows through it, along through Washington and British Columbia (Canadian province). The state flower is the Oregon grape, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark. The nickname is "The Beaver State".
Oregon is known for its beaches, Mount Hood National Forest, the Wallowa Lake, being the birthplace of taor tots, and its craft beer.
Pennsylvania is the 38th state in alphabetical order. It is another original colony of British America, ratifying the Constitution on December 12 1787, 12 days after the admission of Delaware, making it the 2nd state admitted to the union. The state capital is Harrisburg, and the largest city is Philadelphia, the 6th largest city in the country, as well as other notable cities such as Pittsburgh. It borders New Jersey, Lake Erie, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and New York. It played an important role in US History, with the state being the site of the signing/creation of the two most important documents in the United States. It also has mountains, most notably the Applachanian Mountains. Pennsylvania also played a role in the Steel Industry and is the birthplace of Joe Biden. The state flower is the Mountain laurel, and the state bird is the Ruffed grouse. The nickname is "The Keystone State", due to it's crucial role in the creation of the USA.
Pennsylvania is famous for it being the site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the creation of the U.S. Constitution, it's philly cheesesteaks, Hershey's headquarters, the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Eastern State Penitentiary, a historical prison.
Rhode Island (former full name: The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations) is the 39th state in alphabetical order. It is the final original colony to ratify the Constitution, approving it on May 29th, 1790, making it the 13th state to be admitted to the union. The state capital and largest city is Providence. It borders the Atlantic Ocean, Connecticut, and Massachusetts. Although its name has "Island" in it, the state isn't really an island, being somewhat connected to the US mainland. It is the smallest state in the entire country, only measuring 1,545 square miles, but is also the 2nd most densely populated state, after New Jersey. Despite it's size, Rhode Island has a unique landscape and coast beaches, as well as a big colonial history, such as the state refusing to ratify the Constitution in 1790, until a couple months later. The state flower is the Violet, and the state bird is the Rhode Island Red. The nickname is "The Ocean State".

South Carolina is the 40th state in alphabetical order. It is another previous British colony, being the 8th state to ratify the Constitution on May 23rd, 1788. The state capital is Columbia, and the largest city is Charleston (not to be confused with Charleston, West Virginia!). It borders the Atlantic Ocean, North Carolina, and Georgia. The state was also the first Carolina admitted to the union, despite the traditional sense that north is usually first. South Carolina was originally part of North Carolina before splitting apart due to government issues. The state is commonly associated with palm trees, due to it's flag and state nickname. It's also part of the 11 states that formed the Confederacy. The state snack is also boiled peanuts, a popular food in the state. The state flower is the Yellow jessamine, and the state bird is the Carolina wren. The nickname is "The Palmetto State".

It is the 40th (or 39th, possibly) state to be admitted to the union, being founded on November 2nd, 1889 (the same day its northern counterpart was admitted as well). The state capital is Pierre, and the largest city is Sioux Falls. It borders North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana. The state is the most populated and largest Dakota out of the two. Back then, South Dakota was actually one territory with North Dakota, called the "Dakota Territory" eventually, on it's aforementioned founding date, president Benjamin Harrison shuffled the papers to avoid showing favoritism, meaning nobody knows which Dakota actually came first, though information articles commonly say South Dakota was founded second. The state flower is the Pasque Flower, and the state bird is the Ring-necked pheasant. The nickname is "The Mount Rushmore State".

Tennessee is the 42nd state in alphabetical order. It is the 16th state admitted to the union, being founded on June 1st, 1796. The state capital and largest city is Nashville. It borders Kentucky, Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina. The state is widely known for its citizens who volunteered to serve in battles, which is how it earned its nickname. Tennessee was originally part of North Carolina before splitting into a region known as the "Southwest Territory", before eventually turning into what it is today. The state is also known for being the deathplace of Elvis Presley. Originally, a proposed state called Franklin would make up what is now the northeastern part of Tennessee, but it only existed for a brief period before dissolving completely and becoming part of Tennessee. The state is also part of the 11 states that left the country and formed the Confederate States of America, before rejoining after the Civil War. The state flower is the Iris, and the state bird is the Northern mockingbird. The nickname is "The Volunteer State".
Tennessee is known for it's music (with Nashville earning the nickname "The Music City"), whiskey culture, the Rocky Mountains, the replica of the Parthenon in Nashville, Elvis Presley's grave in Graceland, and the National Civil Rights Museum.
Texas is the 43rd state in alphabetical order. It is the 28th state admitted to the union, being founded on December 29th, 1845. The state capital is Austin, and the largest city is Houston, the 4th largest city in the US. The state also has many other large cities, such as San Antonio (7th most populous state in the country), Fort Worth, Dallas (9th most populous state in the country), El Paso, Galveston, etc. It borders Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. It is the second most populated and second most biggest state in the country, and is also one of the most iconic states in the nation. The state is also commonly associated with the Wild West, and its flag looks VERY similar to the flag of Chile. Originally, Texas was part of Mexico before declaring independence due to issues such as slavery (which Mexico had banned.). Eventually it left the nation and created its own country, The Republic of Texas. However, it faced many challenges being an independent nation, such as border disputes with Mexico and limited trade. The republic then became afraid Mexico would try to reclaim it, so it asked for the United States to annex it, in which the union refused to at first. However, by the 1840s, the idea was revived, and Congress eventually approved the annexation, with Texas accepting the offer. After a few months, the state was eventually admitted. After Texas joined the union, Mexico became upset, which led to the Mexican-American war, which ended in the admission of 8 new states. It's also part of the original 11 confederate states. The state flower is the Bluebonnet, and the state bird is the Northern mockingbird. The nickname is "The Lone Star State".
Texas is widely famous for its BBQ, its space innovation (primarily in Houston), the infamous Galveston Hurricane of 1900, many famous attractions like the Reunion Tower in Dallas, La Villita (the oldest neighborhood in San Antonio), Big Bend National Park, the San Antionio River Walk, cowboy culture, and its everyday Mexican border crossings.
Utah is the 44th state in alphabetical order. It is the 45th state admitted to the union, being founded on January 4th, 1896. The state capital and largest city is Salt Lake City, situated right near the Great Salt Lake. It borders Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, and (sort of) New Mexico. It's made up of many plateaus, basin, and Rocky orange landscapes. Utah is also the only state where a huge portion of its residents belongs to one church, which is the LDS Church, headquartered in SLC. Utah originally belonged to Mexico until the end of the Mexican-American War, which resulted in the US paying off debts Mexico owed to their citizens in return for 525 thousand acres of land, which would become into eight new states, with Utah being the 6th state to join out of the 8 states admitted. The state flower is the Sego Lily, and the state bird is the California gull (odd..). The nickname is "The Beehive State".
Utah is known for its national parks (especially Zion and Arches National Parks), Lake Powell (a desert oasis), the Dinosaur National Monument on the border between Utah and Colorado, and its Mormon history.
Vermont is the 45th state in alphabetical order. It is the 14th state admitted to the union, being founded on March 4th, 1791. The state capital is Montpelier, the least populated state capital in the nation, and the largest city is Burlington. It borders New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York, and the Canadian province of Quebec. Vermont is the second least populated state and the sixth smallest one overall, only having a population of 648,493 and an area of 9,623 square miles. Originally, Vermont was claimed by New York, but declared independence from the state and became it's own independent country, the Vermont Republic. It operated for a while but ran into many roadblocks such as disputes with New Hampshire and York over the Green Mountain Region, poor economy, and ignorance of other countries. Eventually, Vermont negotiated with the US, and became the 14th state after 14 years of operating independently (how coincidental!). Even though it's a small state, it has many beautiful greenery and hills, along with a few mountain ranges. The state flower is the Red Clover, and the state bird is the Hermit thrush. The nickname is "The Green Mountain State".
Vermont is known for the Green Mountains, it's tiny but manageable population, its maple syrup and cider production, and for being the headquarters of Ben and Jerry's.
Virginia is the 46th state in alphabetical order. It is the very first original colony to be created, being admitted as the 10th state on June 25th, 1788. The state capital is Richmond, and the largest city is Virginia Beach. It borders Chesapeake Bay, Maryland, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina. It is the birthplace of Being the first original colony, it was founded alongside Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in North America. It is one of the most historical states in the country. It played a key role in the American Revolution and the Civil War, having many battles fought in the state, especially the First Battle of Bull Run. Virginia is also the state with the most battles fought in it. It's also one of 11 states that withdrew from the US to form the Confederate States of America (the CSA) during the Civil War. The state flower is the American dogwood, and the state bird is the Northern Cardinal. The nickname is "The Old Dominion State".
Virginia is known for it's colonial ties, Monticello (the residence of president Thomas Jefferson), Mount Vernon (the burial of George Washington), Arlington National Cemetery, the Pentagon, the Eternal Flame (the grave of assassinated president John F. Kennedy), and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The state capital is Olympia, and the largest city is Seattle, a very famous city. It borders Oregon, Idaho, the Pacific Ocean, and the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is the only US state named after a president, that being George Washington. Previously, it was known as the Washington Territory, and stretched out into Idaho and Montana. After the admission of Oregon, the territory expanded, completely making up Idaho, a little more of Montana, and even a tiny portion of Wyoming. However, after the creation of the Idaho and Nebraska territories, the territory shrunk into it's present-day position, eventually being admitted after 26 years. It's also a very mountainous state, with it's highest mountain being Mount Rainier. The state flower is the Coast rhododendron, and the state bird is the Willow goldfinch. The nickname is "The Evergreen State".
Washington is famous for the Space Needle and Pike Place Market in Seattle, its coffee consumption (Starbucks is headquartered here!), it's rainy climate, its many other cities like Spokane, Tacoma, Everett, Pullman, etc., the Gum Wall, Mount Saint Helens (a supervolcano that erupted on May 18, 1980), and the Museum of Pop Culture.
West Virginia is the 48th state in alphabetical order. It is the 35th state admitted to the union, being founded on June 20th, 1863. The state capital and largest city is Charleston (not to be confused with Charleston, South Carolina!). It borders Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Kentucky. It is one of the most mountainous states in the United States despite it's size. Hence its name, it was originally part of Virginia before seperating during the Civil war due to economic, social, and geographic issues between the two sides. It was then admitted as a state and has been a part of the country since then. It's also the 10th smallest state and the 12th least populous state. The state flower is the Rhododendron, and the state bird is the Northern cardinal. The nickname is "The Mountain State".
West Virginia is known for the Shenandoah River, the Appalachian trail, Monongahela National Forest, the New River Gorge Bridge, and the iconic song "Take Me Home, Country Roads", which is commonly associated with the state.
Wisconsin is the 49th state in alphabetical order. It is the 30th state to join the union, being founded on May 29th, 1848. The state capital is Madison, and the largest city is Milwaukee. It borders Lake Michigan, Lake Superior, Michigan (the upper peninsula), Minnesota, Iowa, and ILlinois. The state is a top-producer in cheese, even earning the nickname "America's Dairyland". During the 1600s, it was claimed by France, but was slowly taken over by Britain during the French and Indian War. Eventually Britain had full control of it, but then the state was later claimed by the US in 1783. Eventually in 1787, it became part of the Northwest Territory. Soon, it became part of the Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan territories, with the British remaining in control until after the War of 1812. Eventually, in 1838, all land to the west of the MS River became the Iowa Territory, reducing the Wisconsin Territory's boundaries for ten years before it was granted statehood, and its borders shrunk again, leading to their current position. Wisconsin also holds the highest badger population in the United States. The state flower is the Wood violet, and the state bird is the American Robin. The nickname is "The Badger State".

Wyoming is the 50th and final state in alphabetical order. It is the 44th state admitted to the union, being founded on July 10th, 1890. The state capital and largest city is Cheyenne. It borders Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Although it is the 10th largest state in area, it is the least populated state in the country, only having a population of around 587k as of 2024. Wyoming is also one of two states that has almost completely straight borders, the other being Colorado. It's also one of 3 states to share a national park, the park being Yellowstone and the states being Montana and Idaho. The state flower is the Indian paintbrush, and the state bird is the Western meadowlark. The nickname is "The Equality State".
Wyoming is famous for Yellowstone National Park, the Rocky Mountains, the Oregon Trail, Hot Springs, the Devil's Tower National Monument, and the National Historic Trails Interpretive Center in Casper.
