We all have most likely gotten food delivered to our house before. Whether you ordered a pizza or are getting groceries delivered for your next meal, food delivery is helpful when you're in a tricky situation or just don't want to get off the couch.
Food delivery wasn't always like it is now though. Many people probably think that when we think of innovation through food delivery, the first example would be pizza, which shockingly isn't true. In the next couple of paragraphs, we will explore how food delivery has evolved and the innovations that have transformed what we eat and how we get it.

Domino’s Pizza introduces a 30-minute delivery promise, enhancing delivery speed.
Pizza Hut’s mobile webpages led to the digital shift in food delivery.
App-based delivery services like Uber Eats and Grubhub took over.
Meal kits and ready-to-eat meal services began.
Now we finally are up to the modern world of food delivery.
DoorDash was founded in 2013 by students at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California originally reffered as PaloAltoDelivery.com it was later on incorprated as DoorDash. It's headquarters is now in Sanfransico, California. DoorDash operates as a online food ordering/delivery service allowing customers to buy items from resteraunts, groceriy/convenice stores, and many other retailers at the comfort at your home through there mobile app. The platform opperates in countries known as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and Germany. Door Dash even has a progran called Project DASH that involves delivering food donations to households and they also participate with local charites like Feeding America.
Uber Eats was created in 2014 as UberFRESH later rebranded to Uber and they are one of the largest food delivering platforms. Founders Travis Kalanick and Garret Camp founded Uber Eats also being co-founders of Uber technologies. There headquaters being in Sanfransico, California they having competition with DoorDash. What makes them stand out though is that Uber Eats has isn't only Uber Eats but is also connected with Uber Drive they can switch between drive or eats from there mobile phone.
Grubhub was founded in 2004 by Matt Maloney and Mike Evans. There headquaters located in Chicago Illinois which there headquarters is far out from all the other food delivery competitors. What makes them different from the others is that you can schedule you orders ahead of time. Grubhub has close partnerships with independent resteraunts so if there is a local buisness that you want to get delivered to you most likely you can!
Postmates was founded in 2011 there founder are Bastian Lehmann, Sam Street, and Sean Plaice. There Headquarters also being in Sanfrancisco, California Postmates has a lot more competition with Door Dash and Uber. Postmates is actually owned by Uber but what is different between the two Postmates has a lot more flexibillity allowing customers to order any reseraunt or store even if the store isn't officialy partnered. Postmates also includes more non-food items while Uber contains just resteraunt pickups.
Founded in 2012 Apoorva Mehta, and Brandon Leonardo wanted to simplify grocery shopping. Apoorva Mehta being a former Amazon engineer built Insta cart himself. There headquaters being in Sanfrancisco, California they also have competition with DoorDash, Uber, and Postmates. Insta Cart primarily focuses on grocery delivery and other essentials they give AI personalized suggestions on your next purchase. They also have tags that show dietary attributes.
