The Brief History of the Computer - Early 20th Century

• Computer Scientist, Grace Cobol creates the first computer language which became to be known as COBOL in 1953.


• The integrated circuit, known as the computer chip was created by Jack Kirby and Robert Noyce in 1958.


• Douglas Engelbart proposes a modern computer prototype that combines a mouse and a graphical user interface(GUI) in 1964.


• Tim Berners-Lee, an English programmer and scientist creates HyperText Markup Language(HTML). He also coined the term, World Wide Web.It includes the first browser, a server, HTML and URLs in 1990.


• Sergey Brin and Larry Page created the Google Search Engine at Stanford University in 1996.


• WIFI, an abbreviation of wireless fidelityis created originally covering up a range of 300 feet in 1999.
