1920s

Known for its passion for jazz, economic growth,development of women’s rights,and a huge cultural revolution, the 20’s was a revolutionary time. Just in that set of years TV was officially invented by Charles Francis Jenkins, John Logie Baird, and mainly Philo Farnsworth. They revealed this world changing machine on September 7th 1927, in San Francisco, U.S.

1950s

Imagine living in one of the most iconic decades of all time, the 50’s. Red lips, going to war, housewives, and watching Elvis Presely in a black and white TV were regular day activities. In the 50’s, control remotes for televisions were created by Eugene Polley, in 1955, so now people could sit down and watch TV without having to get up to change the channels. It was also the “Golden age of television."

1960s

Vivid colors, The Beatles, and peace signs defined the 60’s. TV was now an essential element in every home, and just there, the bright pigments that represented the 60’s, filled the screen. This remarkable invention was created by the Mexican engineer Gillermo Gonzales Camarena, who figured out a way to bring color to the screen, by broadcasting three monochrome images, oneeach in the three colors of red, green, and blue.

1970s

Cable tv is a video transporting service that uses signals that come from cables to offer television programming users. Disco balls, technology advancements, hippies, and big bell bottom pants, characterized the 70’s which was the year cable was invented by Ed Parsons.

1980s

VCRs also known as videocassette recorders is a device that records video and audio from broadcast television. This was invented by Charles Ginsburg and Ray Dolby. New technologies emerged and the evolution continued.

1990s

 High-definition TV and the rise of the internet era. People used television not only to watch shows, comedy, and stuff but also to inform themselves. Pretty much everything was new. We had widescreens, flat/ larger screens, several channels, cable programming, and more.

2020s

The 2020s marked a big shift from traditional TV to streaming services like Netflix and Disney+, driven by the pandemic and the rise of larger screens. These platforms became very popular, using original shows and smart recommendations to attract viewers, turning into important sources of connection and entertainment.
