Bald Eagle

Did you know that the etymology of the word bald in "bald eagle" actually comes from the middle english "balde" meaning shining or white or something like that?

You know the bald eagle used to be a seriously endangered species only a short time ago. I think there were only like 70 breeding pairs. Would have been pretty insane to have an extinct national bird for the united states of america. Nowadays though they're making quite the comeback. there's absolutely TONS up in the state of alaska, over 100,000. Theres still a good few down in the lower 48 as well.
