Value Proposition Workbook

Method 1: User Context & Identification

Who: My target audience for this app would be students primarily in middle and high school level grades. These students are old enough to want to get involved in clubs, extracurriculars, and other opportunities at school in order to explore potential interests and career paths. Many of these students do not have access to these opportunities due to the school they attend. A STEM or Aerospace club for instance may only be available at a school with better funding. Many students would not be able to attend schools like this due to bussing and would miss this opportunity.
Why:These students, despite the hand they have been dealt, have the same thirst for knowledge that any student at this age would have. At this age, they may be beginning to find it unfair that some students have access to more due to their socioeconomic status and school's zoning lines.
The Status Quo: Schools today, especially underfunded ones, are struggling to give their students any opportunities they can through grant funding, fundraising efforts, and self pay. These are not sustainable methods.
Emotion:These students, especially at this age, may be beginning to notice that not all schools are like the one that they happen to attend. This can lead to feelings of frustration and inadequacy.

Method 2: Requirements Mapping

Function:Students will need access to opportunities outside of their school
Social: Students will want to be percieved as dignified and on equal footing as their peers at other schools.
Emotional: Students will want to feel worthy of these same opportunites
The Hire/Fire Moment :If a school "hired" my product, they would need to "fire" the need to keep their own programs afloat through crowdfunding and simply facilitate students using the product.

Method 3: Pain Points & Friction

The Barrier : The number one thing stopping schools from having advanced programs, and thus, students not having access to advanced programs is funding.
The Risk :That they will not be able to provide a stadards based alternative to what they are currently doing
The Cost of Inaction :If nothing changes, many of these kids will graduate not knowing their potential.
The "Ugly" Truth :Teachers are being stretched impossibly thin trying to make something out of nothing when, in reality, it is rarely effective anyway.

Method 4: Benefit Identification

The Dream State :All students would have access to the same educations programs regardless of the school they attend.
Unexpected Delight :Students who move schools will have a standardized way of learning that they can continue with at any school, similar to International Baccaloriate (IB) schools.
The Metric of Success : Percetage of student participation
The Value Pivot :Will make students across a given school district more connected to one another through a standardized baseline of programs they can recieve at any given school

Method 5: Competitive Differentiation

The Only-ness :We are the only education app that offers real time support for students in the 7-12 grades because of a standards based, universalized base design that is customized to each student.
The Trade-off :My core value is to provide standards based extra curricular opportunities for students in grades 7-12. I am willing to be bad at differentiation in order to deliver on the promise of standards based instruction.
The Evidence :These learning opportunities are backed by state standard based instruction
The Radical Clarity :You will be given the chance to explore music, engineering, coding, science, and more any time any place!

Synthesis: The Value Proposition Formula

Our App helps 7th through 12th grade students who want to expand the education they are recieving in school by closing learning gaps and providing opportunities in otherwise underfunded schools. Unlike apps like Skillshare, we offer differentated and standards based education specifically aimed at secondary school aged children.
