Algae, the weird stuff that grows in lakes and abandoned pools. It's gross right? This may be true, but algae have many uses that can help us forge the future to a more clean, but still equally efficiant, future. Algae can be used on space stations and can even remove CO2 from the air.

Any of a diverse group of chiefly photosynthetic and aquatic plantlike organisms that range from unicellular to large multicellular forms, are typically classified as protists, and include the green, yellow-green, brown, golden-brown, and red algae in the eukaryotes and especially formerly the cyanobacteria in the prokaryotes.
SourceAstronauts are testing an algae powered bioreactor which they named the Photobioreactor. The Photobioreactor will help us in the future by allowing the International Space Station to be self sufficiant which could help us in future mission to the moon and mars. The Photobioreactor will convert carbon dioxide into oxygen so that astronaughts can breath easier and it will also produce "edible biomass". This will mean that there will be less trips to the space atation and therfore less energy and fuel wasted. This all can lead to less air pollution and an overall brighter future.
Algae have the potental to remove carbon emissions from the air, which will reduce pollution considerably. Algae can also replace fossil fuels which will, again, reduce pollution considearbly. Cambridge University is already using algae to extract CO2 from the air powered by wind turbines. Algae uses photosynthesis to take in CO2, and algae can even be used as a renewable energy source because of its ability to store energy.
Algae are very versitile in their creations. Algae can be made into biofuels by mixing it with normal gasoline which will reduce its greenhouse gass emissions, and can be made into food fit for animals and humans alike which has plenty of vitimans that help people grow stronger and fight bacteria. Finally algae can be used in architecture and house hold items. In the household items, it can be made to be biodegradable so that when use is done, and it needs to be thrown away, it will easily degrade and not contribute to groundwater and soil pollution. In arcitecture, algae can be 3D printed and this was used in cultural centre Atelier Luma for its exhibits in 2018.
